The Representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees presented his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia

On July 13, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received Damtew Dessalejne, the newly appointed chief of the Armenian Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on the occasion of presenting credentials.

Congratulating Ambassador Dessalejne, Minister Nalbandian expressed satisfaction for the effective cooperation of many years with the Office of the UNHCR underlining that the Office launched its activities in Armenia for supporting around 400.000 refugees expelled from Azerbaijan.

Talking about the perspectives of cooperation, the Armenian Foreign Minister mentioned that the Government of Armenia gives a priority to provide the families of the persons deported from Azerbaijan and living in temporary houses with apartments and expects UNHCR’s support in solving these problems.

Damtew Dessalejne  touched upon the activities of the Office in Armenia and underscored the efficiency of the cooperation between the  RA Government and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. He also mentioned that the Office will continue the implementation of different projects related to the solution of the problems of refugees in Armenia.

Minister Nalbandian presented to Ambassador Dessalejne the recent developments in the settlement of the Artsakh issue.
